Gusto launches Super DC, a vegan soft drink packed with vitamins… and a lot more!
Gusto is an award-winning brand with a range of award-winning drinks. Today, they are launching two new functional drinks: Super DC Blood Orange and Super DC Blackcurrant & Elderberry.
Now, you guys may know that I am an advocate of everything whole, healthy and natural and that soft-drinks are not to be found in my fridge.
That being said, this new vegan soft drink by Gusto did trigger my curiosity due to its value proposition: premium organic, Fairtrade, refined sugar-free, and for these two new flavours, boost your immune system!
Solely for these reasons, I thought you vegans and vegan-friendly people out there, who do enjoy soft drinks here and there, should know about this launch.
Let’s look at who’s behind this hip brand, what Super DC has to offer and why I suggest you give it a try.

The company goes the extra mile to ensure the absence of refined sugars, artificial sweeteners and preservatives.
In addition to the collection of Great Taste Awards, Gusto’s Real Cola has been voted the No.1 Ethical Cola in the UK by Ethical Consumer Magazine in 2019. To further reinforce its health-conscious position, the brand also sponsors sporting events.

The full range, including eight organic vegan soft drinks, is produced with Devon Spring water from the Exmoor hills, in the hills of South Devon.

WHAT’S IN SUPER DC?
Super DC Blackcurrant and Elderberry Dark complex notes of elderberry complement fresh tart blackcurrant juice, with a generous glug of apple juice to sweeten. Apple juice has a naturally low glycaemic index and whilst keeping calories down, delivers a rich flavour of the British orchard and hedgerow.
Elderberry has been used in traditional medicine for centuries to treat flu and the common cold. It’s brightly coloured pigments act as natural antioxidants and is a natural source of vitamin C. (You can find elderberry tea here and dried elderberries here.)
In fact, a number of studies have found that elderberry can reduce cold and flu symptoms by several days.
WHY TRY THIS PROMISING VEGAN SOFT DRINK
“Both Super DC drinks are bursting with vitamins. Each containing two grams of vitamin C delivering 2500% reference intake (RI) of your daily vitamin C requirement. With 500mg from plant extracts in the form of the Acerola Cherry, an untapped functional superfruit, and one of the richest natural sources of ascorbic acid.”
In addition, Super DC also contains 200% RI of vitamin D, naturally, from a vegan source. (Yes, because as you may, or may not know, most vitamin D available in the market come from animal sources such as lambs’ wool, krill or cod liver oil.)
Super DC also has 100% of your RI of vitamin K and Folic acid and 50% your RI of zinc and vitamin A.
Besides all the claimed beneficial characteristics, these vegan soft drinks contain a high percentage of real fruit juice, are low in calorie at less than 60 calories a can.
Please note that to affirm or question whether, or to what extent, the medicinal characteristics of the ingredients in these organic vegan soft drinks are transferred to the final product is not the scope of this article.
