Sama Sama Hotel – Arrival and Check-in

After seven months on the road, we decided to wrap up our trip to Southeast Asia in total comfort. The Sama Sama Hotel, adjacent to Kuala Lumpur International Airport seemed to be a wise choice. Its strategic location and overall amenities had everything we needed to relax and enjoy prior to a long-haul flight.

The first advantage of choosing the Sama Sama Hotel was their shuttle service. As soon as we arrived at KL airport from Melaka, we headed to the shuttle stop to be picked up and driven to the hotel.

The shuttle dropped us off at the entrance of the hotel where a corridor with shops and one of the hotel SPA’s led to the sumptuous reception area.

At check-in, James reminded the receptionist that it was my birthday (it really was!). Apparently, he had informed them by email so, at our arrival, we were upgraded to a business suite.

As an extra bonus, we were also put on the guest list for the Premier Lounge for cocktails between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The Room

The corridor leading to room 745 was wide with pleasantly dimed lights.

We walked into a comfortable and modern living room with a kitchenette equipped with essentials for snacks and cocktails. The social area even had a small service bathroom!

A Coffee machine, a kettle and an array of coffee capsules and tea varieties offered enough choice for a hot drink.

In addition, the medium-size fridge was filled with drinks, cookies, snacks and chocolate.

All windows of the suite were closed with electric blackout curtains. And a partition wall between the living area and the room held two large wide-screen televisions, back-to-back.

The bed was pristinely presented with a fluffy duvet and soft pillows inviting to an ultimately comfortable sleeping experience.

Being a business suite, the room included an office desk with a variety of international plug sockets, appropriate light, Ethernet cable and efficient WiFi. A personalized notes pad added charm to the desk.

The main bathroom was a large space combining a shower-room, bathroom and walk-in closet. All necessary toiletries are available in addition to hair-drier and amplifying mirror.

RESTAURANTS

The hotel has three internal restaurants, but for those preferring a more typical and also more economic experience, the Food Garden, is the place to go.

The hotel shuttle drops off guests at the meeting point from where one can easily walk to the buzzing food court to find all types of Asian delicacies at extremely affordable prices.

SWIMMING POOL

One of the highlights of our stay at the Sama Sama Hotel was the swimming pool surrounded by tropical trees and plants. Sitting under the water feature we even forgot to be sitting in such proximity to the landing strip of the airport.

Health & SPA

After a refreshing swim, we parted ways and went into separate SPA experiences.

The gym was very well equipped and had all the essential machines for a proper workout. We did not have a chance to use it this time because our time was limited so we had to make a choice.

Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were just what I needed to prepare for my birthday celebration at the Premier Lounge.

Premier Lounge

After a relaxing SPA experience, we headed to the Premiere Lounge for cocktails and snacks.

We were surprised to find that drinks and food were served freely until closing time, at 8:00 p.m.

After watching a beautiful sunset we had a second round of cocktails and headed to the room to pack and prepare for the long day ahead.

BREAKFAST

Our flight was so early that we did not have the chance to fully enjoy what the breakfast room had to offer.

Anything you could possibly desire was available. From juices, fruits, drinks, bread, Asian food, European food, pasta, pizza, desserts, nuts, seeds, you name it. All this for breakfast!

After not so much food but a good cup of coffee, we rushed to the reception to catch the shuttle that took us to the terminal.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE AT THE SAMA SAMA HOTEL

We stayed at the Sama Sama Hotel for less than 24 hours but every second counted and was fully enjoyed.

The staff, in general, were very attentive and pleasant. From the reception to the SPA, lounge and restaurant everyone we came across was very helpful and efficient. Even the shuttle drivers were always in a good mood.

Taking some time to relax and recharge prior to a long flight back home proved to be the best decision we could have made.

Highly recommend it.
