Interview with co-founder of Trash Hero

During our stay in Koh Lipe, Thailand, we had the pleasure to film an interview with the co-founder of TRASH HERO. This NGO has the mission to “bring communities together to clean and reduce waste”. Darius is a Swiss environmentalist who has long adopted Koh Lipe as his home. He has been living on the island for over ten years with his Thai wife. Together, they run the eco-friendly Cafe Lipe Food & Bungalows, serving the best healthy and vegan food we found on the island. We shot our informal talk over an organic cup of coffee overlooking the surreal turquoise blue water of the Andaman sea. It was fascinating to learn how the project started, and how Darius and his friends took on the responsibility to clean the island. We learned that the quick and uncontrolled massive increase in tourism caused a great increase in plastic waste. We were so touched by the passion of the people involved in the project that we postponed our departure. Participating in the Monday beach cleanup was the perfect excuse to enjoy a couple more days on the blissful island. Our stay at the Café Lipe Eco Bungalows was quite an experience, but so was the beach clean up For more information about the TRASH HERO organisation go here.
